We are excited to be growing our church in 2025! We are praying for workers to join us in growing the gospel in His church and in the community around us.

a little bit about us

We are a Presbyterian church in North Ryde. Our members are an active part of the wider community with many of us living, working and attending schools in the Epping, Eastwood, Ryde, Macquarie Park area. We are a group of about 200 people with families and kids and young adults. In God’s grace, we have experienced exciting growth and are pumped to keep laying strong gospel foundations.

the training

As a church, we recognise that the top priority is to find a place where you can be stretched and trained for a life time of service. We are committed to being a place where real training happens in real ministry contexts. We are praying for a partnership that not only benefits you and the church but will in time bear greater fruit in building the kingdom of God.

What to expect: 

  • A focus on teaching the bible in various contexts.

  • Developing a wide range of ministry skills theologically and practically.

  • Monthly meet up with a pastor for personal mentoring.

  • Monthly all in training with a staff and students.

  • A defined and tailored ministry that is recognises your capacity, gifts and growth areas.

  • An environment to try new things and make lots of mistakes.

the ministry

The student minister will be involved in the bread and butter of our ministry, like the Sunday service and community groups. They will also be involved in one particular ministry of the following areas.

membership 

A key area we are working on is connecting and integrating newcomers. We regularly have newcomers which we would love to do a better job with. This involves working with the membership team to facilitate better welcoming and follow up and training members in those areas. 

mission

We want to be encouraging and equipping our church to engage the local area as well as their friends and family with the gospel. This will involve working with the mission team on various key events and training initiatives. 

maturity + ministry

Our small groups are key to maturing Christians. This will involve working with the maturity team to help our small groups multiply, train leaders, and work on teaching content. 

family + kids 

We have a budding family and kids ministry. This will involve working with the existing Captivate Kids team to plan and develop the ministry in the longer term.

the details

  • The student minister will be supported with a scholarship of $10,000 p.a.

  • The student minister is expected to commit ~one day a week to the ministry at Captivate Church. This could look like Sunday mornings, community group, 1-2-1s, team meetings.

  • The student minister can have 4 Sundays off in a year (not including being away for college commitments).

  • We prefer if the student can commit to two years at Captivate Church.
